Trees

The trees are an outstanding feature of the Cator Estate, and their maintenance is a significant concern. An inspection by a professional arboriculturalist is commissioned every three years, to produce a pruning and planting scheme which is broadly followed. Preservation orders have been placed on certain trees, and since 1994 all trees within the Conservation Area are protected, so individual householders must seek
the Local Authority’s consent before undertaking felling or lopping. The Company follows up all approved felling by residents to ensure that replanting takes place.

Residents are asked not to sweep leaves from gardens onto Estate pathways, or to allow trees and shrubs to grow too far out over the footpaths.
